Cleaning Things to look for in a cleanup and restoration service Carmel Valley Cleanup and Restoration

Every homeowner will need a cleanup and restoration service at least once in their lives. With the number of risks that every kind of structure is exposed to, you need to have someone that could be trusted with mold and mildew removal, water damage restoration, fires restoration, and similar services.

But how do you know who to trust?

The amount of experience that they have should come first.

  • How long have they been doing restoration and cleaning services?
  • How extensive is their experience with fire and water damage?

Make sure you find out about the experience and expertise not only of the company as a whole, but of every technician who works for them as well.

You also have to make sure that they give you permanent or long-term fixes instead of temporary ones. Find someone who will not only try to patch up the existing problem. Instead, find someone who will find the root cause and eliminate the problem from there.

Considering the fact that SERVPRO has been in the industry since 1967, it definitely proves that this is the one name that you can trust when it comes to cleanup and restoration services.

SERVPRO does not only serve residential customers in Carmel Valley and Rancho Santa Fe, but commercial clients as well.

Why Only a Professional Should Take Care of Smoke Damage

Fire Damage Why Only a Professional Should Take Care of Smoke Damage Carmel Valley Fire Damage

Do you believe that only a professional should take care of smoke damage? Once the flames are put out and the firefighters leave, people think that the fire damage left over should be easy to take care of. However, knowing how to clean smoke damage the right way takes years of experience to master, which means that you should leave the job for experienced professionals.

One powerful thing that a fire can leave behind is ash residue. Aside from the fact that this could hurt your lungs, ash residue can cause extensive corrosion on the structure as well. Ash residue is also not an easy thing to get rid of; it easily spreads around the place and the smallest amount of it can cause further damage to your furniture and to the remaining structure. It causes discoloration on any kind of surface and can also cause metals to tarnish.

And what happens when you fail to get rid of all this ash residue on your own? You’ll find yourself overwhelmed when the damage has spread out, increasing your costs and making you wish you left it to the professionals the first time.

Mold Remediation Differentiating Mold and Mildew SERVPRO of Fairbanks & East Rancho Santa Fe

Knowing the difference between the two makes mold and mildew removalan easier task to complete because the technique used to remove each of the two vary in so many ways. These two terms are often mistaken for each other, which could heighten the risks that come with their presence.

Molds are fuzzy in appearance and they could come in blue, yellow, gray, green, brown, white, or black. They cause coughing, sneezing, difficulty in breathing, migraine, sore throat, allergies, pneumonia, rashes, extreme fatigue, and changes in mental status.

Mildew, on the other hand, grows flat and is usually powdery in appearance. It starts out as white and eventually turns yellowish, then brown, getting darker and darker until it becomes black. It can also cause damage to your plants, although the health risks are milder when compared to molds. Mildew can cause sore throat, coughing, headaches, and difficulty in breathing.

Water Damage Steps to prevent the worst on water damage SERVPRO Fairbanks Ranch & East Rancho Santa Fe

Water damage creates a nightmare for homeowners. It is caused when water accumulates in an area where it shouldn’t. Whether it is a leaking pipe, broken plumbing system or a malfunctioning household appliance, water damage can quickly create havoc. It can damage thousands of dollars worth wood furniture, electronics, upholstery, and plumbing appliances. While it starts with a leak in a pipe, the actual damage occurs when the leak remains for an extended time. For this reason, you need to act quickly and take preventive steps to reduce the damage and restore the situation. Here are few important steps to prevent the worse on water damage.

First of all, you need to identify the source of water leakage. Check out the pipes and the entire plumbing system to identify the leakage. Once the source of leakage is identified, you can prevent it from getting worse. Turn off all interior water sources. Every member of the house should know where the main valve is located and how to operate it. In times of water damage, this main valve and the angle stops need to turned off.

Secondly, check if any electrical components are affected by water. Keep yourselves away from electrical switches until a professional checks them. It is very dangerous to use any electrical equipment during water damage. Don’t use a vacuum cleaner to remove excess water- instead, manually mop the floor as much as possible.

Last but not least, move all the equipment to a dry place. However it is not recommended to handle items that are damaged by a sewer backup. Remove excess water by pinching holes into the bubbled ceiling.

While you can perform these steps to reduce water damage, it is always recommended to contact a SERVPRO Fairbanks Ranch & East Rancho Santa Fe representative to guide you through each step to avoid risk. Without a water damage restoration professional, you would risk damaging your valuable property.
